Christine’s Feathered Nest is the product of my personal love for fine household linens. I can blame this weakness on my mother and her Great Aunt Bess. My mother, Mary Jane, inherited Aunt Bess’s beautiful collection of antique and vintage linens that were well used throughout our home. We learned to care for and appreciate these textiles that my mother displayed in both functional and decorative ways. I do not know another person who can instinctively “feather a nest” the way she does and linens have always been a part of that. As the oldest daughter it seemed only natural to continue this tradition. So… with Mary Jane’s enthusiastic support, Christine’s was born in a Civil War era amoire in my entry hall.
We started Christine’s Fine Linens in 1989 with two in-home shows a year. The focus was not vintage linens but rather fine European linens that will become the next generations treasures. My merchandise also included carefully selected accessories for the bed, bath and table. The opportunity arose to share retail storefront space with two close friends and the growth of Christine’s began. Christine’s Fine Linens morphed into Christine’s Feathered Nest as my product line and space expanded. The location and name have changed but the dedication to finding and supplying fine linens and accessories for the bed, bath and table have remained.
I am proud to carry the well-recognized purveryors of fine linens such as Sferra, Yves Delorme, Matouk, SDH and others. However, I also delight in discovering small and/or new companies that offer luxuries for your home. I personally select every piece of merchandise in my boutique. My customers have come to expect the unexpected when they come through our doors. My staff and I delight in helping our customers find those touches for their personal home spaces to build a nest unique to them. Don’t hesitate to ask us for help in locating special , hard to find items. It may not be in our inventory, but after 20 years of experience I can probably find it- and I do love the hunt! We invite you to visit our storefront in historic Old Cloverdale in Montgomery, Alabama ( the amoire is still in use). If you are not in the area, you will receive the same personal service on-line or by phone that you would have in the shop.
